[Exhibition Description]
A-nya.PoPo has lead quite the crazy life. A lot of ups and downs made her into the creator she is today. It feels like a miracle to be here. And the only way she made it this far was through the love and support of all her dear ones and her powerful imagination.
A-nya.PoPo’s father is a poet; and her mum an artist. Since a very young age she would help the now departed Moe Nahara run a very unconventional art school for children and learning creative skills, she kept on making art ever since. Haruo Fujita’s poetic eyes always communicated the value and beauty of life to her.
After a fantastic year of studying art in London she is now back to Tokyo and decided it's was time to give back and open her world for public.
In the show, you will navigate through her cross disciplinary books made in London and meet all her funny and imaginative friends floating around in space.
Welcome to A-nya.PoPo's world, enjoy her magical world.

Another Roma4 -MACRO: Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome -

After I had a great time in MAXXI museum, I took a bus to visit another museum called "MACRO". I thought it would be easy to find if it's MACRO, not micro.

Bus as usual, I walked....
I walked....
I walked....
I found it!!!

It was BEAUTIFUL inside..
huge....nice and quiet..
There was a small library.
Book shops;)
The best toilet I have ever visited in my life!!!!!
It was not very practical as it was a bit dark, but this toilet was very exciting!!!
I don't know why Italian contemporary museum are so good at designing Toilet. MAXXI's toilet was also fashionable.

Another Roma3 -MAXXI: National Museum of the 21st Century Arts-

I tried to wake up 5:30 am to visit to St. Peter's Basilica to avoid the crowed.
However I am terrible at morning and I hadn't been able to sleep well in the hotel.

So, I wanted to go somewhere new and I searched on the internet.

Then, I went to MAXXI for the first.
It was unexpectedly great.
This entrance reminded me of the Aomori Museum of Art, back in home, Japan.
Kunio Maekawa again!! His works have been showing up in my life so many times, such as my high school, my hometown, my previous work office in Tokyo.

On my way back...

Another Roma2 -Lost&CHAGALL-

According to google map I checked in hotel, there should have been a train station 15minutes walk from the hotel.

But.. I couldn't find it although I walked more than one hour. I felt at a loss as I had no idea where I was walking. There was very few people walking on the street and many of them couldn't understand what I was asking in English.
I really thought I should have studied Italian before.

Suddenly, the big building showed up, so I thought finally "It must be station".  There was market in front of the building. But I have noticed the people were surprised by me somehow and also they were not speaking English nor Italian.
There was a group of people staring me and I felt "maybe am I wrong place??"
When I reached the entrance of building, there were security guards. So, I asked him where I was. And he answered that I was in Islamic Mosque!!!!

I was very shocked and I understood why the people were looking at me with curious eyes.
But the security guard kindly explained how I can get to station, although it was completely opposite from there.
And I finally managed to take a train. (my ticket somehow didn't work, but Italian gentlemen helped me to get through the gate)

And I managed to arrive the gallery "Chiostro del Bramante" in the city center where there was a exhibition about CHAGALL!!! My forever favorite artist!!!
The exhibition was amazing. They were displaying many of his etching works.

In the end, It was a great day...

★Bologna Children's Book Fair★

I finally arrived Bologna Children's Book Fair!!!
I had no idea what was going on inside of the building, but it was bigger than I expected and very crowded.
More than 1000 exhibitors were coming from all over the world and thousands of people were there such as literary agents, licensees, packagers, distributors, printers, booksellers, and librarian, illustrators and authors.

In some booth, you were able to buy books.

The majority of booths were busy with meeting such as trading rights.

Of course, there were many Italian publishers. Their books were amazing. It was pity that I couldn't read Italian.

A few publisher kindly spared their time for young illustrators to give them feedback for their portfolio. People were making queue for them. I did too.

There were thousands of children's picture books. Surprisingly I have seen many Japanese books there. Some publisher told me Japan has a long history of children's picture book, which I didn't realize before.

There was illustrator's exhibition.

There were some spaces for illustrators to put their name cards on.
woohoooo so many! there are thousands of name cards. This is the real world!!

Many of publishers were there for making contracts with other publishers, so it was not so easy to find someone who could spare their time for us, but I have visited almost all booths in 2days and had great opportunities to get a lot of useful feedback for my work.

The first time in the international bookfair was very thrilling. But this experience made me feel that I want to make more illustrations, stories and books.

I will definitely come back here in the future:)

PBFA Book Fair: Children's, Illustrated and Modern First Editions

I went to the book fair for children's books today.

It was held in Hilton Olympia Hotel London.

I actually didn't expect anything before I went, I went to there just for have a look for my research.
However there were hundreds of antique books and so many pretty, interesting and beautiful illustrations.
The most of therm were very expensive as they were antique books, but I felt I was so lucky to visit the book fair.

we enjoyed our journey;)
